UCP205 Bearing Specifications, Dimensions & Cross-Reference Guide

EP-UCP205 is a 25 mm bore pillow-block unit built around an EP-UC205 insert in a P205-style housing. It is a common reference size because the shaft is large enough to appear in conveyors and general machinery while the housing remains compact enough for straightforward handling.

A useful UCP205 specification page should separate three things: the housing dimensions, the insert-bearing rating data and the replacement checks. Mixing those categories is how incorrect torque or cross-reference assumptions enter an otherwise simple job.

Use the drawing with these values. The nominal bore identifies the shaft, while H, J and L tell you whether the complete unit sits in the same place on the machine.

Insert load ratings

The supplied EP-UC205 insert table lists a basic dynamic load rating of 10.8 kN and a basic static load rating of 7.88 kN. Those values should be used with the actual equivalent bearing load and speed; they are not the same thing as a maximum machine load for the complete assembly.

Set-screw torque for EP-UC205

For EP-UC205, the insert uses an M6 x 1 set screw with a maximum tightening torque of 3.9 N·m. The M10 value associated with the housing mounting bolt is not the set-screw size and must not be used as the inner-ring screw torque.

Inch-bore variant: UCP205-16

The same housing family is also listed with inch-oriented inserts. UCP205-16 identifies the 1-inch bore variant. One inch is 25.4 mm, so a 25 mm metric shaft and a 1-inch shaft are not interchangeable simply because the numbers look close. Specify the full suffix when the machine uses an inch shaft.

Cross-reference: use the model as a clue, not proof

A third-party model number can help identify the likely housing family, but the safe replacement workflow is dimensional. Compare bore, centre height, bolt spacing, base length, insert width, locking method and seal arrangement. Keep suffixes in the RFQ because they can describe details that the short family code does not capture.

Installation and maintenance notes

Clean the shaft, position the housing without forcing it, allow paired supports to align before final clamping and tighten the insert screws to the correct UC205 value. The housing mounting bolts should follow the machine fastener specification. During service, monitor temperature, noise, grease condition and the security of the shaft lock rather than relying only on elapsed time.

EP-UCP205 as a replacement reference

EP-UCP205 is useful as a worked example because the model code is widely recognized, but the code should not replace measurement. Verify the 25 mm shaft, 36.5 mm centre height, 105 mm bolt spacing and the other dimensions in the current product table before approving the unit. If the old machine uses an inch shaft, a nominal “205” reference may point to a different bore variant; measure the shaft directly.

Metric versus inch variants

A 25 mm shaft is 0.4 mm smaller than a 1 inch shaft. That difference is large enough that the two should not be treated as interchangeable fits. When an inch-suffix model is supplied, include the full suffix and confirm the measured shaft. The housing may remain similar while the insert bore changes, which is exactly why the complete part number matters.

Cross-reference without overclaiming

SKF, FAG/Schaeffler, NSK, NTN, Timken, INA and JTEKT/Koyo numbers can be useful search inputs when a buyer is replacing an existing unit. However, a model name alone is not proof of exact equivalence. Compare bore, housing footprint, centre height, insert width, locking method and the application duty. Ask for engineering confirmation when any dimension or suffix differs.
